Southwest comenzara a volar entre HOU y CZM en el primer cuarto del 2020:

We are also excited to announce our intention to offer more service to Mexico, via Cozumel International Airport, in first quarter 2020, subject to requisite governmental approvals. With Cozumel, we will serve four destinations in Mexico, with year-round service from Houston Hobby.

De acuerdo con la información en routesonline.com, Southwest publicó algunos ajustes de itinerarios a partir de enero de 2020, y a México le toca la suspensión de las siguientes dos rutas:

Los Ángeles – Cancún
Los Ángeles – Puerto Vallarta

Son rutas con bastante competencia. La primera es operada por Interjet (aunque se supone que también la podría estar suspendiendo en 2020), Delta y United, mientras que en la LAX-PVR encontramos a American/American Eagle, Alaska AL, Delta y United.

En la nota, que se puede leer en https://www.routesonline.com/news/3...thwest-airlines-january-2020-network-changes/, también aparecen algunas suspensiones temporales de rutas a México pero ésas no son sorpresa, es normal que Southwest las opere en temporada alta y luego las suspenda en temporada baja.

(NYSE: LUV) today extended the carrier's bookable flight schedule through mid-April 2020, bringing new service to beach destinations across the Southwest® map from Hawaii, to Mexico, to Turks & Caicos. This new service is included in the carrier's full flight schedule now available for booking through April 13, 2020, at Southwest.com.

On Saturday, March 7, 2020, subject to government approvals, Southwest will begin twice-daily service roundtrip between Houston (Hobby) and Cozumel with one-way fares from Houston as low as $99 available for purchase today until 11:59 P.M. Pacific Time (see full terms and conditions below). Southwest has served the region for five years via Cancun International Airport, having grown to offer nonstop service in 2019 between 17 cities in the U.S. and Cancun.

Houston es muy grande y hay para todos , quienes viven en el norte donde se concentran por cierto buenos vecindarios la tienen para pensárselo si manejar a IAH o HOU.. para los que viven en el sur HOU es excelente. El tráfico de Houston es terrible yo viviendo en el norte jamás pensé volar por HOU ni por el precio porque a la final en taxi/Uber, estacionamiento, tráfico etc no valia la pena

Southwest anunció ayer dos nuevas rutas a playas mexicanas:

Phoenix - Los Cabos
Phoenix - Puerto Vallarta

Ambas inician el próximo 8 de octubre, con dos vuelos diarios a SJD y uno diario a PVR.

Southwest Airlines will add its first international flights from Phoenix this October, service that was announced Thursday as Southwest extended its booking schedule through Oct. 30. The Dallas-based carrier will begin service between Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) and both Cabo San Lucas (SJD) and Puerto Vallarta (PVR) on Oct. 8, Southwest unveiled Thursday. The Los Cabos route will operate twice daily and the Puerto Vallarta route once daily.

The Mexico routes are Southwest’s first international flights from Phoenix, its seventh-largest base by departures.

The new routes were pushed out in Southwest’s regular schedule extension that was long scheduled for Thursday. Southwest updates its timetable several times a year, with the latest extension scheduled to roll out before the coronavirus concerns began to significantly impact the U.S. market.

Desde el 12 de marzo de 2022, Southwest planea iniciar un nuevo servicio internacional entre Austin y Puerto Vallarta (PVR), México, sujeto a las aprobaciones gubernamentales necesarias, sumándose a San José del Cabo (SJD) y Cancún (CUN).

Hola, Southwest anunció seis nuevas rutas internacionales a iniciar el 4 de junio de 2024, y una de ellas es a México:

Orlando - Cancún

La fuente donde se informa esto es: SOUTHWEST AIRLINES EXTENDS FLIGHT SCHEDULE WITH NEW INTERNATIONAL OPTIONS AND MOST-EVER DEPARTURES

Será un vuelo diario. Esta ruta ya es operada por Frontier, JetBlue y Spirit.

Pero, al mismo tiempo, dejará de volar entre Fort Lauderdale y Cancún (además de otros destinos internacionales), de acuerdo con: Southwest Airlines just made a big change in Florida affecting Fort Lauderdale airport
