TELLURIDE, Colo. -
No injuries were reported after a plane crashed into a snow plow at Telluride Airport Wednesday afternoon.
There were five passengers and two crew members on the plane traveling to Telluride on vacation from El Paso, Texas. The airport was closed for snow removal at the time of the crash and the pilot did not radio into the airport base before landing, according to Fixed Base Operator.
During landing, the plane crashed into a snowplow on the runway at an estimated 100 miles an hour at time of impact. The snowplow driver said he did not see the plane coming, but he was uninjured.
Broken snow showers were in the area at the time of the crash. Visibility was at seven miles and wind is not believed to be a factor.
Telluride Fire Protection District had a rescue engine, hazmat technicians, fire crews and EMS on scene. NTSB will investigate the crash.
The aircraft was a Hawker Beechjet registered out of Mexico.
