VivaAerobus Expands Service Again

Service to Monterrey, Mexico proves extremely successful

The success of VivaAerobus’ non-stop flight between Houston and Monterrey, Mexico is prompting the low-cost carrier to add a fourth frequency by the end of August 2011.

VivaAerobus entered the Houston market in July 2010 by offering two weekly flights to Monterrey from George Bush Intercontinental Airport, but the success of that service has since called for the airline to add two roundtrip flights to their weekly schedule.

“We are more than pleased with the growth we’ve seen in Houston,” says Hector Palacios, head of government and airport affairs for VivaAerobus. “There is still a great deal of work to do but more and more passengers are now finding and choosing VivaAerobus.”

The numbers certainly support that statement, especially the most recent passenger totals from the second quarter of 2011. During the months of April and May, the low-cost carrier enjoyed a passenger total increase of 100 percent over the numbers recorded in January 2011. The dramatic increases are not only welcome news to the airline itself, but also the Houston Airport System and area travelers.

“We’re thrilled with the success of VivaAerobus,” says Genaro Peña, director of air service development for the Houston Airport System. “First, we believe it’s beneficial to have a low-cost international carrier in the market and secondly, Monterrey is incredibly important to Houston for both cultural and economic reasons.”

August 22 is the next big milestone for the team with VivaAerobus. That’s when the airline launches its fourth weekly non-stop flight to Monterrey, but airline officials are quick to point out that even more good news could be arriving soon to the Houston market.

The airline has publicly announced plans to add five to seven flights to its route network by the end of the year and Palacios says that Houston is part of the discussion in regards to determining where those new flights will be operating.

“Passengers in Houston are experiencing our service and realizing that our prices are the best in the market for flights to and from Monterrey,” Palacios says. “Of course Houston is a strong option for us.”

By the end of the year, VivaAerobus will have increased the number of planes in its fleet by 73 percent. Palacios says three additional planes are slated to arrive later this year, bringing their total number of aircraft up to 19.

Los lugares de 99.00 dólares son unos cuantos, no están disponibles los 148 lugares a esa misma tarifa, por tal razón viva recomienda comprar con tiempo, para que alcancen las tarifas mas bajas.
Saludos.
